Blood Donor Month

January is also Blood Donor Month

Although January is Cervical Health Awareness Month, it is also Blood Donor Month. We at MedNOW want to take a moment to highlight this important cause that saves countless lives. Every January, we honor the selfless individuals who donate blood and encourage others to join this life-saving effort.

Blood donation is critical to ensuring that hospitals and clinics can provide essential care for patients in need. Whether it’s a trauma victim, someone undergoing surgery, or a patient with a chronic illness, a single blood donation can help save multiple lives.
Unfortunately, blood supplies often run low during winter months due to seasonal challenges like illness, weather, and holiday travel. That’s why your contribution during National Blood Donor Month is more important than ever. You can make a difference by donating blood, spreading the word, and staying informed on the different types of blood donations available.

At MedNOW, we are committed to supporting our community’s health. We encourage all eligible patients to consider giving this vital gift. We will also be hosting a few blood drives ourselves in 2025! We will make sure to promote those blood drives when the time comes!

For more information on how to donate or find a nearby blood drive, visit RedCrossBlood.org. Together, we can help ensure that blood supplies remain sufficient for those who depend on them.

Thank you for being a valued part of our MedNOW family and for considering how you can contribute during National Blood Donor Month. Your generosity can truly save lives.

August is National Immunization Awareness Month , and we want to emphasize the importance of staying up to date with your vaccinations. Did you know every $1 spent on childhood vaccinations saves up to $44 in healthcare costs by preventing illness and hospitalizations? Vaccines are essential for protecting your health and the health of those around you, preventing diseases, and reducing the spread of infections. Vaccines are not just for children—adults need them too! Here is a snapshot of vaccines important for adults: 1. Flu Vaccine: Annually, preferably before flu season (all adults, especially those 65+) 2. Pneumonia Vaccine: One vaccine followed by a second 12 months later (adults 50+) 3. COVID-19 Vaccine: Varies (all ages) 4. Shingles Vaccine: Two-dose series (adults 50+) 5. Tetanus Vaccine: Every 10 years (all adults) 6. RSV Vaccine: One-time dose (adults 60+) 7. Gardasil Vaccine: Three doses (ages 9-45) If you have questions or need assistance scheduling an appointment, call your MedNOW Clinic. Your health is our top priority. If you have any more questions regarding vaccines and immunizations, the CDC provides excellent information. To book an appointment to receive your vaccines, please call your MedNOW Clinic, or you can schedule your appointment online through our website. Thank you for taking care of your health!
