Gerard Guillory, MD (Functional Medicine Consultant)
Dr. Gerard Guillory is a native of Lake Charles, Louisiana. He graduated from Louisiana State University School of Medicine- Shreveport through their 6-year program where he received both his undergraduate and medical degree in 6 years. He started practice in Aurora Co. at the age of 26 in 1985. His nickname was “Doogie Howser”.
He completed his Internal Medicine training at Richland Memorial Hospital, affiliated with the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. He is board-certified in internal medicine.
He was chairman of the board of the largest IPA in the 1990s, which included over 2,000 providers. Dr. Guillory founded The Care Group PC in 2001 in Aurora, Colorado and added many nurse practitioners and physician assistants to his practice over the years. Dr. Guillory is an expert in Functional Medicine and has published three books on Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). He is an accomplished speaker and has given many talks to various groups. Over the years he served as a mentor to countless medical students and mid-level practitioners.
Dr. Guillory recently retired from his functional medicine practice in Aurora, Colorado after 38 years. Now, he is committed to offering his experience and knowledge to the next generation of functional medicine practitioners. He is passionate about promoting functional medicine as the wave of the future. He is a firm believer that through patient education, patients become empowered to be their own best healthcare advocate
